Plasma Pen Treatments are now an increasingly popular non-surgical treatment for facial and skin rejuvenation.
Plasma treatments take substantially less time than surgery because there is no need for general anaesthesia and there is no need to cut the skin. There is little downtime after treatments, which can last 20 to 30 minutes, although there may also be very minor scab forms and edoema. It is understandable why plasma treatments are so popular given the noticeable outcomes after just one treatment and the progressive improvement over a few weeks after therapy.
Small micro wounds are made in the treated area with a plasma flash, (called an arc) Issued from a hand-held pen shaped device. Stimulated skin cells produce collagen up to 400 times the normal production. The flash causes tiny, brown carbon spots or crusts that look like freckles. These tiny crusts fall off in a few days. Skin tightening results can be seen in one to two weeks and will continue to improve over the next three months.
You will see the benefits of the treatment in as little as one week. New collagen will continue to form over the next three months. Benefits will last typically around 2-4 years. The natural ageing process of breaking down the collagen will then take place. There are many factors that contribute to collagen breakdown including lifestyle and age.
